In January 2022, I graduated from Athabasca University with a Master's in Counselling Psychology, and in June 2022, I registered with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario.
My work as a Registered Psychotherapist comes from various areas of training. Even before pursuing my graduate studies, I volunteered on a crisis counselling phone line and provided support through the Kids Help Phone - Text Line.
During my practicum placement, I had the opportunity to work as an intern counsellor at a non-profit organization. This allowed me to integrate my previous knowledge and adopt a trauma-informed approach to my work.
With experience in crisis counselling and non-profit agency work, I bring a client-centred approach to my practice that prioritizes building rapport, creating a safe space, and fostering client autonomy. I am committed to continuous learning and have received training and certificates in Integrative Somatic Therapy Practices, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma-informed approaches. I am also currently completing my training to become an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider. My approach to counselling is grounded in strength-based psychotherapy and cultural responsiveness. I strive to create a space that is both socially just and empowering for my clients and as such, encourage their feedback and collaboration.
